James Cooper

James currently serves as a Marketing Consultant with GGI. His primary focus right now is producing content for social media (posts, graphics, videos), writing a blog, and creating e-mail campaigns to support GGI’s activities and relationships. He started in February 2025 when he was hired to build a Sponsorship campaign and materials to help raise money outside of grants. He then created a roadmap for the grant’s Cohort program, building its milestones, tasks, and activities before moving to his current role.

Marketing communications has been part of James’ professional life for more than 30 years. He has worked as the Corporate Marketing Director for a real estate franchisor, the Promotions Manager for a recreational business, and the General Manager for multiple other businesses. Just prior to GGI, he served as the Executive Director for three different Bay Area Chambers of Commerce. Marketing and brand management have been part of his core duties in nearly every organization with which he has worked.

Other roles James has held include serving as Honorary Commander of the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West; as Treasurer for Visit Vallejo; and Economic Vitality Commissioner for the City of Pleasanton. He holds an MBA with a Global Management emphasis and a Bacheror’s Degree in Business Management. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran, and is married with two adult daughters. Outside of work, James enjoys gardening, playing guitar, working out, and spending time with his wife and Coco, his cat.
