GGI Welcomes New Staff Member, Rahul Maharaj!

The Go Green Initiative is proud to announce the addition of Rahul Maharaj, our newest program coordinator!

Rahul Maharaj joins the GGI staff team as a program coordinator.

Rahul Maharaj is currently studying at California State East Bay towards a degree in Political Science, Pre-Law. Rahul previously worked as a Constituent Service Representative for the District Office of Congressman Eric Swalwell, where he handled federal casework and coordinated community outreach.

Prior to his work in politics, Rahul worked as an after school teacher and basketball coach. His impressive work and combined interest in quality education makes Rahul a valuable addition to the GGI team.

Rahul shares that he first discovered GGI while searching for job, and was immediately intrigued. “Going through the website and learning more about them helped me understand while they are making changes in many school districts right now, they are still growing.” Rahul wanted to help GGI grow, and was hired to join the team!

“Go Green Initiative felt like somewhere I could make a difference and work in my community which was something I was looking for. It seemed like everyone there was motivated to make change any way they could. GGI is a place where I can see myself grow and thrive.”

As for his current work with GGI, Maharaj has been working on the Hayward Unified School District GGI Resource Website. “Here, Green Teams from any school in HUSD will have links to resources, training and, information regarding SB 1383. Along with getting myself ready to help trading school Green Teams. I am very excited to work with the schools and see how we can help!”

The GGI staff and Board welcome Mr. Maharaj and look forward to his expert stewardship of our mission.
