Unlock Funding for Your School District with the NSBA Magna Awards!

Good news for school districts looking to boost their sustainability efforts and gain recognition! Applications are now open for the NSBA Magna Awards, operating on a new points-based system with a maximum of 500 points available. Earning points for your district is as easy as 1-2-3!

Here's how your school district can maximize its chances:

  1. Complete Two Essential Online Courses:

Invest in your district's expertise by completing these crucial online courses:

  1. Put Your Training into Action:

Theoretical knowledge is great, but implementation earns you points!

  • For Course 1: After completing the "Creating an Energy Efficient IAQ Management Plan" course, develop an IAQ Management Plan specifically for your district. Ensure it covers all nine sections outlined in the course and upload it to page 3 of your Magna Awards application.
  • For Course 2: Once you've finished "Documenting Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions & Using ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager®," create Portfolio Manager® accounts for each of your district's schools. Input 12 months of energy use data into each account and generate the necessary GHG emissions reports. Consolidate these reports into a single PDF document and upload it to page 3 of the application.
  1. Boost Your Points by Watching Webinars:

Since March 2025, NSBA and Go Green Initiative (GGI) have been collaborating on a series of insightful monthly webinars. These webinars cover a variety of school-related IAQ topics and feature special guest speakers, providing valuable insights and practical advice.

You can access these archived webinars at your convenience on the GGI YouTube playlist, "Indoor Air Quality in Schools." Each webinar concludes with a QR code for a brief survey. Complete the survey to receive your Certificate of Completion and earn points!

Don't miss this opportunity to gain recognition for your district's commitment to sustainability and potentially secure valuable funding through the NSBA Magna Awards.
