The Go Green Initiative is proud to announce the addition of Michelle Sim to our board of directors!

headshot of Michelle SimOur newest member of the Go Green Initiative board of directors, Michelle Sim, has worked in the energy industry since 2002.

 

Michelle is currently the Director of Sustainability at SoCalGas, and has been with the company for 8 years. Before SoCalGas, she worked at a global A&E firm, working primarily on Department of Defense contracts related to facility and energy management, renewable technologies, and zero net energy strategies.

 

With experience in energy usage with various types of facilities, involving operational and project management, planning, evaluation, and analyses of utilities, energy consumption, and alternative resources, she is a valuable addition to the board.

 

Michelle said she was first introduced to GGI early in 2021, “Jill Buck approached me to be a guest on her radio show, Go Green Radio, to talk about sustainability. In our conversation, she shared the Go Green Initiative and I instantly knew that GGI’s core mission in environmental justice for children is a passion we shared.”

 

From 2002 to 2008, Michelle worked as an Energy Specialist for the Los Angeles Unified School District, combining her expertise in green energy and commitment to upholding education system standards. With experience in both environmental work and education, Michelle shares that, “GGI’s vision and values resonated with me as someone working in sustainability and as a past educator.”

Michelle attended the University of California Berkeley, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in interdisciplinary studies. She also has her teaching certificate from California State University, Dominguez Hills.

 

As a new member of the board of directors, Michelle is, “excited to dive into all of GGI’s initiatives and will look to add value to enhance GGI’s engagement, impact, and influence in a meaningful way.”

 

Our Board of Directors share a vision: a world where natural resources are equitably available, and all children are healthier as a result of living the principles of the Go Green Initiative.
